Exhaust work

So the Megan downpipe arrived in the mail on Thursday, so a friend and myself spent the evening taking out the stock downpipe and stock cat since I also had a Megan Test Pipe to install.

Well once we finally got everything taken off, and bolted the new downpipe in, we bolted the test pipe to the downpipe only to see that the test pipe didn't line up with the rest of the exhaust. There was about a 2" gap between the test pipe and midpipe of the exhaust. My friend and I had to wrestle with the piping to get it to line up, then slowly tightened the bolts so that everything lined up.

The end result was everything lined up good, I think I need to buy a new exhaust gasket since there isn't one between the test pipe and midpipe. Also the car threw a CEL due to having no cat on the exhaust anymore, so in the next couple days I will be doing the mechanical o2 fix.

So now that I got my downpipe and test pipe installed, I think I am done working on the exhaust for the time being. It is a little louder than it was with just the catback, and once the RPM's get up there it has a nice deep growl to it. The turbo also seems to spool a little quicker as well. I'm liking Megan products so far, I may just have to replace the Magnaflow catback with the Megan catback...

Next on my list of things to do:
  1. Buschur Racing Mini Battery Kit
  2. Buschur Racing Upper Intercooler Piping Kit
  3. Buschur Racing Intake Hard Pipe Kit
  4. ECU Re-flash

Finally Posting an Update!

Wow its been a while since I last posted...

Since my last post, the WorX BOV and Megan Test Pipe arrived in the mail. I installed the BOV and have it set to 25% VTA, 75% Recirc. I have not had any problems with stalling or anything like that so far. However I do think it is causing me to run a little rich between shifts, so I am considering going back to the JDM IX BOV.

As for the Megan Test Pipe, I have not installed that yet because I was waiting to buy the matching Downpipe. Well today I bought the DP so as soon as it arrives I will be spending some time installing those parts.

The only other thing that changed since my last post was I had a brief stint of wanting to have a wingless Evo. I took the wing off the Evo for about a week to see if the look would grow on me, and I almost left it off, but after taking some pictures and looking back on it I realized I did not like the wingless look at all. The wing is back on now, but has some chips in it because I foolishly dropped it when I was removing it. To resolve that issue I am planning on having the wing stripped completely of its paint so that it exposes the carbon fiber underneath.

Well thats all the updates I can think of at the moment, I'll try to keep the updates coming on a more regular basis here in the future.
